about

K Dot is what many have named as the North’s best Grime MC for some time now. Being from Sheffield it was inevitable that 4x4 would be his initial maker with living in the home of the Bassline scene in the Niche era. That track did indeed come and it was ‘Get Milli Get Mad’ in 2008. Fast forward 4 years to 2012 and his big break in Grime came when he got the call up from Jammer for Lord Of The Mics IV where he clashed the late Depzman. After that came a heap of media attention from the likes of SBTV & JDZ Media dropping a number of freestyles amassing hundreds of thousands of views collectively, along with his freestyles on 1Xtra where he has made consistent appearances for Logan Sama & Sian Anderson.

He was featured in Complex UK’s article ‘15 Grime MCs Outside Of London You Need To Know’. His Sheffield crew Scumfam also gained recognition being booked at the debut Eskimo Dance in Leeds at the o2 Academy in 2016 as well as a call up for a couple of its members to represent Sheffield on Red Bulls Grime-A-Side project. He then embarked on his Tour in 2017 to follow up from his hit ‘Scary’ with Scumfam producer Palize which soared through the Bassline scene once again. Grime Releases have been consistent throughout the years seeing collaborations alongside P Money, Big Zuu, Kamakazi, Eyez just to name a few as well as his debut 1Forty Release in 2018 ‘1Forty Ting’ and more bassline hits across 2019 such as ‘As Per’ and the All Star Remix some of whom he teams up with once again for ‘Ya Fool’.

Those two names are Birmingham pioneers and royalty Trilla & Bomma B. Trilla was one of the first artists to have been representing Grime & Bassline from 2007 onwards in the Midlands. Trilla burst on to the scene in 2007 with G-Star - one of the Bassline scenes earliest anthems. Westwood soon cottoned on to the hype and had Trilla down to London on a number of occasions for freestyles and sets over a 24 month period before breaking through to Mistajam and Targets shows and becoming the main sound of 1Xtra.

Toward the end of the Westwood stint came the StayFresh era welcoming through Bomma B alongside the likes of SafOne, Mayhem, Deadly, Pressure, J1 and Raider amongst others delivering a wrath of freestyles, tracks and sets upon the best media channels like Flush Raw, P110, GrimeBlog, JDZmedia and the top radio platforms at the time such as Sian Anderson’s 1Xtra show and Logan Sama’s AfterHours on Kiss FM which carried through to 2016. At this time there was nowhere in the underground Trilla and Stayfresh could not be seen or heard. Some artists in the crew took some time away from music including Trilla and Bomma until 2019 saw the return of them both with new music and appearing on sets once again like they never left. 2020 they properly announced themselves back to the world with DJ Target welcoming them on to his show for a special 4x4 #TeamTakeover orchestrated by Target and his wife Eva, blowing up the airwaves in the process setting themselves up perfectly to bring 4x4 back in circulation a decade later with none other than one of 1Forty’s previously signed artists and Sheffield's underlying 4x4 pioneers over the past ten years - J69.
